    Students made their own Bing Dwen Dwen and Shuey Rhon Rhon

    • As the buzz about the Winter Olympics and Paralympic Games stays on. Bing Dwen Dwen and Shuey Rhon Rhon, the two lovely mascots, have become favourites for students at Yew Wah International School of Rizhao. Bing Dwen Dwen, the panda wearing a crystal spacesuit, is the mascot of the Winter Olympics while Shuey Rhon Rhon is the red lantern representing the Winter Paralympics.

      The lower primary students took part in a project-based learning for which they not only learnt about various sports in Winter Olympics, but also the popular winter sports originated from the northern China.

      Students made their own Bing Dwen Dwen and Shuey Rhon Rhon ornaments during the art class. Throughout the process, they carefully observed the design and substance of these mascots. Afterwards, they also made their favourite sport equipment for the Winter Olympic Games.

      “Bravery” was the theme of Character Education this month, echoing the spirit embedded in the Paralympic Game, students were inspired by the "bravery" of the Paralympic athletes as they learnt how they overcame difficulties to compete. In their future studies, they will be using the Paralympians as models when facing and overcoming difficulties.
