    • To celebrate the traditional Chinese Lantern Festival, Yew Wah International School of Rizhao held a Lantern Festival concert. Versatile and talented YWIS students highlighted the last day of the Lunar New Year with lively programmes.

The Chinese song ‘Chinese Style’ and the English song ‘What's Your Chinese Zodiac Animal Sign?’, presented by Early Childhood Education (ECE), brought an international Chinese style to the Lantern Festival.

The Upper Primary students performed the English song ‘A Bull Song’, the short play ‘Fox and the Powerful Tiger’, and the poem recitation ‘If There Were No Li Bai’, which the audience found fresh and new.

The Upper Primary students performed a traditional Chinese comedy, ‘Three Sentences and Half Sentences’, and an English version of the Chinese song ‘Congratulations’, unexpected performances that drew cheers and applause from the audience. In addition, there were Chinese song and dance performances such as ‘Happiness with You’, ‘Simple Thing’ and ‘Little Beast of Nian’.

At the end of the concert, the Primary students sang and danced a song named ‘It’s So Awesome like the Ox’ to make the atmosphere full of excitement. It also expressed the wishes for everyone to be as bold as the Ox in the year of the Ox.

After the concert, teachers led different groups of students to play throwing arrows into the jug, and make lanterns and Chinese zodiac pottery. The students enjoyed the traditional Chinese games and crafts in fun.
