The teachers and students of Yew Wah International School of Rizhao suddenly found themselves underwater. Surprisingly, no one got wet or alarmed. They were on a field trip to the spectacular Rizhao Ocean Park that opened in 2018 to quickly emerge as a top local attraction with tremendous educational and entertainment benefits.
The day at this fascinating tourism complex started with an expert introduction to the aquarium after which wide-eyed students observed some engaging marine life up close during a walkabout. Along with the visual feast they gained several nuggets of information about various fish and sea creatures. It was a stimulating tour that sparked great interest and curiosity in this unseen world.
Three coaches from Rizhao Tianfeng Sports Culture then led the students through some fun activities as a warm up for the mermaid and dolphin performances and ‘silver storm’.
Along with the educational tour this was an opportunity to reflect on issues concerning the protection and preservation of marine life, and wildlife in general.
We would like to thank the members of YWIS Parent Organisation for their support in the smooth running of this event.
Later, back at school, the children put their heads together to create a joint art display – a backdrop portraying the school logo. The activity was intended to build a sense of ownership of and connection with our logo.
