The 2020/2021 academic year is about to begin. Teachers of Yew Wah International School of Rizhao arrived at their posts one week in advance to get ready for the new semester.
In this academic year, we have new members to inject new vitality into the academic team. We are very happy to have the talented new teachers to join the family of YWIS Rizhao and will continue promoting the education concept of Learning Community.
During the week, the teaching team started the work of the new semester efficiently, made the academic year plan, and conducted the training of project-based learning (PBL).
On August 13, the teachers attended a PD session on experiential learning and how to implement and integrate it with the PBL approach and apply the concepts in our classes. This PD was offered by Ms Izzat Yaganagi who is the Head of Experiential Learning Programmes at a highly reputed educational company. In addition, Ms Yaganagi is also a consultant, trainer, and mediator. She is also an avid trekker and promotes sustainable living. Ms Yaganagi has a master’s degree in Education. She worked extensively with schools around the world, and now companies and works with parents as a counsellor and trainer. She strongly believes that through the elements of experiential learning many issues that may arise in the children’s lives in the future can be prevented.
The teachers learnt a lot from this training session and we are very eager to request Ms Yaganagi to hold a few workshops with our parents in the future.
Meanwhile, the non-academic team has also completed the school cleaning and equipment update work. More English books were added to the library. Hope our students come and check them out themselves!
