What is international education? How does it differ from the educational philosophy of public schools? For parents who have never been exposed to international education, it is always a question that puzzles them. In order to introduce the essence of international education to parents, International Education Seminar and Curriculum Information Session were jointly organised by Yew Chung International School of Qingdao and Yew Wah International School of Rizhao in YWIS Rizhao campus on February 23, 2019.
YCIS Qingdao and YWIS Rizhao’s Chinese Co-principal Ms Yvonne and Western Co-principal Mr Stephen O’Connor presented a detailed introduction, from the international education philosophy, advantages, to how to choose a qualified international school with its own history among those intermingled international schools. It brought more information and ideas to parents who didn't know how to choose an educational environment for their children.
Yew Wah and Yew Chung were founded by Madam Tsang Chor-hang in Hong Kong in 1927 and 1932 respectively, and have been providing quality education for more than 80 years. YWIS Rizhao Primary curriculum and YCIS Qingdao’s Lower Secondary curriculum is an international curriculum based on the national curriculum for England, Character Education and an intensive Chinese Language and Culture Programme. Upper Secondary curriculum includes International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) and International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IB).
After learning about the curriculum, the parents entered the classroom and had classroom interaction with the teachers. They experienced how the teachers of an international school guided and inspired students' thinking and learning enthusiasm.
Inspired by this experience, some parents asked for observing the real classroom interaction in school days. YWIS Rizhao will arrange an open day in the near future, so that parents outside the school can have a deeper understanding of YWIS Rizhao.
