With snow covering the whole place of Rizhao, the annual winter concert of YWIS Rizhao has come to us again.
This winter concert provided plentiful programmes as usual. ECE students presented a short play named “Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?”, which was adapted from a classroom game. They also sang “Little Pumpkin” and a Chinese song "Pull Out the Turnip".
The Lower Primary students brought us a song named “Christmas Lights” and a skit.
The Upper Primary students performed the song and dance "We Wish You a Merry Christmas".
The teaching of violin is an integral part of our music programme. Research shows that music training enhances a child's spatial-temporal reasoning, leading to improved mathematics performance, memory span, and intellectual development.
After a semester of practice, the violin skills of Primary students had been improved, and their efforts were recognised by the audience.
Special thanks to the performance presented by Ms Song Wenwen, the cellist from Rizhao City Art Theatre, and cello teacher of Rizhao Kelan Music School. A tune called "The Swan" (from “Carnival of the Animals") made the audience swoon. The students were immersed in the ocean of music to enjoy the auditory feast brought by the beautiful melody.
In the pure children's voice of "When Christmas Comes to Town" sung by Upper Primary students, Santa Claus walked off the stage and distributed gifts to children. The children who received the gifts, led by Santa Claus, walked on the stage and presented the curtain call to the audience together.
When music was switched to a festive Christmas dance music, students danced off the stage. Parents were invited to join in the dancing. The atmosphere of joy reached a climax.
When the children had to leave, Mr Andrew Watt, the Vice Principal of YWIS Rizhao, handed out cookies made at ECE the day before.
All the staff of YWIS Rizhao wish you a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
