    • Upper Primary students of Yew Wah International School of Rizhao recently studied electricity in their Science topic. As their knowledge of electricity accumulated, they couldn’t wait to put their understanding into practice.

Last week, the students received a challenging task – they had to use batteries, wires and components to make a birthday card with sound and light!

The students were very excited. They followed the teacher’s instructions and worked conscientiously to make an electronic circuit for their birthday cards.

Some succeeded in connecting the circuitry very quickly and were delighted to see the candles light up on the cake on the birthday card.

Other students weren’t as successful and used a diode to detect the disconnected part of the circuit.

After they had completed the candle section, students studied the mechanism of music devices. They tried assembling all the components of music devices, and experimented by folding and unfolding the card to observe the music turning on and off.

When all the music devices were connected, the birthday song resounded throughout the classroom. One student even whistled along to the music to celebrate his success in making an electronic singing birthday card!
