Kindergarten and Primary teachers at YWIS Rizhao have recently conducted a successful curriculum overview session for parents to gain a better understanding of the teacher’s expectations and the curriculum for 2017/2018 school year.
During the activity, Western and Eastern Primary Co-Teachers/CAL explained what students will learn in Semester 1 and the teaching strategies used to deliver the curriculum. The teachers also talked about the homework assignments in English, Chinese, Mathematics, Science, etc., and suggested some ideas to parents to help their child at home.
ECE teachers explained the value of play, how children learn though play and that the teaching plans are thematic and child-orientated. Most parents attended and were actively engaged in the session. They asked questions and the teachers responded patiently.
In October, the ECE parents will receive their children’s settle-in reports and Primary students will have their progress reports. This will give parents an opportunity to discuss any issues with the teachers, especially those about their child’s development.
