    • Sunflowers and pumpkins planted at Rizhao campus in spring have perished during the hot summer holidays. The students are amazed to see that the greenhouse garden beds at the campus are like an overgrown forest!

The Lower Primary students have continued with their clean-up operation from last week and our willing gardeners came prepared with gloves, rakes, spades and plenty of energy!

Wearing long sleeve shirts, trousers, sun hats and garden shoes for protection from the sun and insects, all children looked like gardeners/farmers. Firstly, they were reminded about garden rules and to listen carefully. Then the teacher demonstrated using the tools safely and outlined the clean-up steps.

Clean Up Time! With help of the teacher, the students cut and pulled vines and sunflower branches from the ground. Then two students worked together to put them into bags. Garden clean ups are important throughout the seasons to prevent insect pests, disease, weeds and to prepare the new garden beds for a new round of planting.
