    • Spring is a season for hard work! Recently the Lower Primary students of Yew Wah International School of Rizhao harvested their green house plants. The students were like experienced famers as they skillfully pulled the radishes and cabbages out of the garden beds.

Throughout their Science Topic, the students learnt how to plant, cultivate and harvest their products. This also allowed the students to reflect on and appreciate the work that our farmers do each year. Hands-on activities arouse curiosity and stimulate a thirst for knowledge in our students. It also encourages them to be more responsible. It increases their physical activity, and assists them to work with each other and to solve problems. At YWIS Rizhao, we encourage teachers to provide activities that connect the students to nature!

Today’s children and families often have limited opportunities to connect with the natural environment. In the past decade, numerous scientific researches show that children’s social, psychological, academic and physical health is positively impacted when they have daily contact with nature.
