    Early Childhood

Fundamental skills and whole child development.

    • YWIS Rizhao’ Early Childhood Education provides a nurturing environment where children experience the joy of learning. The emphasis is not only on academic and intellectual achievement but also on the children’s positive identity and acceptance of differences, which helps them to develop their life skills through play. Through meaningful and real-life experiences, the children actively participate, investigate and experiment to find out about the world in which they live.

YWIS Rizhao provides an early year programme for Kindergarten (K2 to K4). The children attend a whole day programme, five days a week. The curriculum caters for the development and learning needs of young children in Chinese and English learning environment. This programme also provides transition from K4 to Year 1.

The early year programme has small class sizes where co-teaching by Chinese and English speaking teachers support the children’s learning and development. Teaching and learning is conducted on an individual basis according to the needs and the developmental level of each child.

Teachers are responsive to the children’s interests and encourage their initiatives by exploring relevant topics. Teachers reflect upon the children’s knowledge and thinking skills to further develop their interests.
